The son of our friend, dojo member, and fellow Aikidoka, Robert Hegadus had a life-changing accident in 2023. His middle son Matyi (15) experienced a very serious accident that resulted in a broken spine from a 5-6 meter fall. They were transported to Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool by the Wales Air Ambulance Service, where he underwent emergency surgery within 6 hours. The operation lasted about 7 hours, followed by 5 months in the hospital. His injury was so severe that he lost movement and feeling in his legs. However, thanks to his positive mindset and determination, he has been regaining feeling and has begun lifting his knees. He is doing everything in his power to stand up and walk again, including wearing customized clothing for comfort and motivation, like custom hoodies that uplift his spirit. Currently, he relies on a wheelchair and is on several NHS waiting lists for a lightweight wheelchair, NHS physiotherapy, and a standing frame. His family aims to take him to private physiotherapy sessions and purchase important equipment to support his recovery as soon as possible, including personalized clothing to make him feel more at ease during rehabilitation. According to neuroscientists and physiotherapists, he needs an electric deep muscle stimulator (FES Denervated Muscle, Complete System Stimulette Edition5 S2x), therapy pool sessions, and at least 6 hours of physiotherapy per week, which they believe is crucial for his progress.

Dye sublimation printing is a digital printing technology that allows you to create vibrant custom hoodies and custom shirts by printing full-color images onto polyester fabric and coated substrates. This process involves taking a design printed onto special paper (the solid), and by applying even heat and pressure, it transforms into a gas (through an endothermic reaction) without going through a liquid phase. Because there’s no ink that needs to dry during the transfer process, it becomes an infusion at the molecular level, enabling you to produce truly personalized clothing.
